Kraction Films Blog Spot

Is there no room for cult cinema now??

Movies like Mother India, Mugleazam, Mera naam joker, Agneepath (1990), Dil Se, Lakshya, Sholay, Andaz Apna Apna (1994), Ek Ruka Hua Faisla (1986) and many more are the real gems of Bollywood. These movies have set new benchmarks for the filmmakers in making.

These cult films are known for their passionate fan base, an elaborate subculture that engage in repeated viewings, quoting dialogue and audience participation.

I personally feel that Bollywood today is some what lacking behind in living up to its own rich history. These days audience is purely watching same old chapters of Bollywood; Same songs in rap and party theme; I may be totally partial if I put the entire blame on Bollywood filmmakers. But what I have noticed that these days the audience is not concerned to watch films with good content.

Movies like Tere Bin Laden (2010), Masaan (2015), Titli (2015), I am Kalam (2010), The Blue Umberalla (2005), Black Friday etc are the most underrated CULT films of Bollywood. They couldn't gather enough audience to the movie theater.

I personally believe that this trend of "only shallow entertainment films" with double meaning jokes should change. Otherwise films with good content will never make their way to the theater anymore.
